Vasilis is an Environmental Engineer from Columbia University with a research and business background spanning vertical microalgae farming, biocircular economy principles, ESG policies and strategic management consulting. As the founder of Solmeyea Biotech, Vasilis leads efforts to produce “carbon-neutral” bioingredient-based proteins by utilizing CO2 and reusing 99% of the water required. This innovation enables the Food, Cosmetics, and Pharma industries to create premium algal-based products at significantly lower costs and with a reduced carbon footprint, aligning with circular economy goals.
With 18 years of international experience across the EU, US, and Africa, Vasilis has worked on sustainability-focused projects, water scarcity solutions, cost restructuring, and agricultural and environmental research aimed at addressing global climate and food security challenges. From 2014 to 2018, he served as Project Manager at Turner Construction Headquarters in NYC. He is fluent in English, Greek, and German and has served as a Special Forces Parachutist in the Greek Army.
